Biddeford Today

Biddeford Mills™ is a producer of low price electric blankets, throws and mattress pads. For 150 years, Biddeford Mills was a respected New England company but then in the early 2000’s it was bought out by Microlife®, a Taiwanese company, and production was shifted to mainland China. They have been selling ever increasing amounts of electric mattress pads in this country since.

Biddeford Heated Mattress Pad Review

Biddeford’s mattress pad safety technology is time tested as they have sold several millionbiddeford mattress pad with remote - flipped units since their introduction in 2000 with very few incidents. Their mattress pads are economical, machine washable, partially machine dryable and their heater wires are reasonably thin although somewhat hard. The size of their cord connector is medium and is located at the foot of the bed. Some of their controllers are digital push button types and some are analog rotary dial types so if this matters to you, you’ll have to shop carefully. One advantage of their rotary dial controller is its mechanical ON-OFF switch which allows one to use an appliance timer to turn it on if desirable. Be aware though that this practice is not recommended by any of the safety organizations such as Underwriters Labs (UL) since they believe having heated bedding come on by itself and unattended is an unsafe practice.

The only major complaints we hear about Biddeford’s mattress pads are that their controllers are somewhat prone to failure and their mattress pad fabrics are rather basic and scratchy.

All of Biddeford’s heated bedding products conform to UL standards and are marked accordingly. Biddeford’s mattress pad warranties are generally 5 years. Their heated bedding has been a good value for those looking for a warm, safe, energy saving and low cost product.
